About

Anna’s work is a quiet practice of peace, rooted in memory and reflection. Through intimate, suspended moments, she explores connection and presence, conveying not exact likenesses but the felt essence of loved ones. Each figure evokes the resonance of someone remembered, holding both tenderness and timelessness.

Her practice centers on a layered process of acrylic and oil painting. Beginning with monochromatic underpaintings, Anna establishes gesture and atmosphere before building depth through transparent oil glazes. This interplay of immediacy and refinement allows her to create vibrant surfaces that capture both the softness of skin and the subtle shifts of light, fabric, and atmosphere.

Born in Indianapolis and raised across Shanghai, New Zealand, Taiwan, and California, Anna grew up with a broad perspective on art and culture that shaped her love for painting and art history. Influenced by Japanese minimalism as well as contemporary figurative painters, she balances representation and abstraction in works that honor personal relationships while reaching toward the universal. Now studying painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Anna continues to refine her exploration of color, connection, and presence in contemporary figuration.
